Improved sealing for industrial geared motors
A arrangement developed by Busak+Shamban for sealing between the electrical motor and the transmission drive shaft has been successfully adopted for a wide range of geared motors and transmissions
Secure sealing between the electrical motor and the transmission drive shaft has proved problematic for designers and manufacturers.
Leakage is common-place and the ingress of dirt and water can rapidly lead to malfunction, premature wear and possible motor failure.
Effective sealing is critical to the engine performance and technicians at Busak+Shamban considered it necessary to design a single solution that would be suitable for all geared motors and transmissions, irrespective of operational parameters and oil grades used.
The sealing arrangement developed by Busak+Shamban comprises ball bearing protection with the use of axial shaft seals, fluid retention with a patented radial oil seal and V-seals to prevent the ingress of water and dirt.
The radial oil seal has provided a totally leak-free environment and the general sealing arrangement has been successfully adopted for a wide range of geared motors and transmissions.
