The latest miniature Elbaron electrostatic oil mist air cleaner has been designed for use on Swiss Sliding Head auto machines and other small CNC lathes.

Called the RON/A60 SV, the units are available from M Buttkereit, and eliminate the smoke and fumes associated with using neat cutting oils together with even fine oil mist, and other airbourn particles down to 0.01um in size that can be generated even when using soluble coolants, with more than 3% oil content.

The compact size of the filter means that in most cases it can be fitted direct to a machine enclosure cover or casing.

This type of installation provides the most economic operation, helping to maintain a clean workshop environment, while reducing the propensity for operator absenteeism by ensuring healthier atmospheric conditions.

If direct machine mounting in not practical, then the filter can be mounted on a separate support stand and used with a suction box and hoses.

Air flows of 200-500m3/min are achieved, with these being vertically upwards through the unit.

A mechanical pre-filter removes the larger air impurities followed by a high capacity electrostatic filter cell.

This electronically charges all the remaining solid or liquid contaminants, irrespective of size, under the action of high voltage in the ionisation zone.

The filter unit weighs 22kg and has an unobtrusive noise level of 59db(A) when operating.

It is fitted with a single phase 230V motor rated at 0.108kW, and can be supplied as standard in optional RAL colours of 6011 or 7035.
