To prevent damage to machine shafts including threaded spindles and ballscrews, M Buttkereit can offer a wide range of telescopic spiral spring covers.

These create clean and safe operating conditions, that ensure the extended life of machines or equipment in a wide range of engineering applications but also including construction, chemical and packaging industries, together with food and pharmaceutical manufacture.

The telescopic springs can be subjected to a wide range of environmental and thermal conditions.

Most rotating machine parts operate in demanding surroundings and a small amount of contaminant such as swarf, dirt, dust or even liquid is often enough to create conditions for mechanical damage and expensive repairs.

However, the use of telescopic spring covers provide peace of mind and protection against aggressive working conditions or inadvertent accidental contamination.

Springs can be supplied in hardened, high quality, polished blue spring steel or high-grade stainless steel and can be mounted in horizontal, vertical or angled inclinations to suit the operating environment.

Another advantage of telescopic spiral springs is that they provide very effective sealing and are completely self-cleaning.

In terms of maintenance, a thin film coating of oil is all that is usually required.

In order to efficiently follow the motion of the machine, the telescopic spiral springs are conically wound with over 1500 diameter and length variations making up the range.

New sizes and types are also being constantly developed to suit specific customer applications.

Selection is usually based on inner diameter, together with both extended and compressed working lengths.

For special requirements, such as exceptionally long extensions, it is possible to use several telescopic spiral springs in series.

Ideal for OEM applications, many telescopic spring varieties can also be supplied for retrofit installations.
