A new range of cable gland products offers maximum flexibility to a whole host of users, including machine builders, panel builders and general electrical installers.

M Buttkereit has introduced a new range of cable gland products to the UK.

The innovative Icotek range is designed to offer maximum flexibility to a whole host of users, including machine builders, system integrators, panel builders, automotive industry and general electrical installations including the building and construction industries.

The KEL cable gland system combines a split polyamide entry plate or frame used in conjunction with captive grommets in an elastomer material.

The grommets, which are split to accommodate cable insertion, are preformed to suit cable, wire or conduit sizes from 3 to 34mm diameter.

The split design of both frame and grommets ensures that even the retrofitting of prefabricated cables, incorporating premoulded or special purpose end fittings, can be easily undertaken.

Individual grommets can be supplied to accommodate from single or up to four cable entries, with multiple assemblies within a single entry plate to achieve a high density of varying sized cables within a very small space.

When fully assembled with appropriate grommets, the split frames are clamped together with two screws.

The resulting compression joints achieved between cable, grommets and frame ensure IP54 protection together with a secure and tight strain relief for the cables.

The entry plate is also designed with mounting hole dimensions that correspond with proprietary standard cutouts (eg Harting, Wieland), eliminating the need for new aperture tooling.

For even greater versatility, a clip-in subframe version called KEL-Snap is also available, together with KEL-EMC which ensures there is no interruption of EMC shielded protection at the cable entry point.

Also available is the KDR cable entry system that can be used to install a number of prewired KEL glands for top, bottom or side entry of electrical enclosures.

The patent-pending KDR frame system is mounted into the control panel and closed by sliding together two metal closure profiles to maintain the IP54 rating.

Any subsequent alterations required to the number or size of cables is easy and quick to achieve.

Combinations of black or grey coloured split frames and grommets can be supplied to suit installation requirements.

The polyamide and elastomer materials are both halogen and silicone free, with high chemical resistance and suitable for use in temperatures from -20 to +100C.

Also available in the Icotek range are screwable split grommets for M63 knockout holes, together with a range of cable strain relief and EMC shielding products etc.
