Bureau Veritas has acquired Regspec, one of the UK's leading electrical safety specialists.

Bureau Veritas has acquired Regspec, one of the UK's leading electrical safety specialists.

Bureau Veritas takes full control of Regspec's capital, previously held by National Britannia.

The acquisition is another step in Bureau Veritas' plans for growth and brings its UK workforce to just over 700 staff (a near three-fold increase since 2000).

Strategically, the move strengthens Bureau Veritas' broad portfolio of technical and consultancy services in the UK, consolidating its electrical inspection and geographic coverage.

Regspec carries out electrical testing and inspection services on distribution systems and appliances, including risk assessments.

Regspec has over 100 employees across the UK.

Its current client base includes extensive, ongoing relationships with facilities management companies, handling the electrical safety inspection and engineering for companies such as Hilton Group, Glaxo Smithkline, Cadbury Schweppes and United Biscuits.

Regspec has performed well over the last two years with a successful new business record and strong profitability.

The agreement will also provide Regspec's existing clients with access to Bureau Veritas' integrated network of services.

Speaking of the acquisition, Olivier Guize, Chief Executive of Bureau Veritas UK and Ireland, said: "The deal demonstrates the group's commitment to our plans for ambitious growth in the UK.

The key to our success has been to combine a depth of technical expertise with an integrated service delivery and the team at Regspec will complement this perfectly.

We are all excited about the opportunities forthcoming from the acquisition".

Bureau Veritas is a world leader specialising in QHSE SA management (quality, health and safety, environment and social accountability).

With a network covering 140 countries and including 550 offices and laboratories, Bureau Veritas offers an extensive range of technical services and solutions in the fields of certification, conformity assessment, consulting and training.
