Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 2, 2005

Chris Beach, who is London Underground's occupational hygiene specialist, has been elected as President of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).

Chris Beach, who is London Underground's occupational hygiene specialist, has been elected as President of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).

His aim during his year as President, which runs from April 2005 to April 2006, is to support all those Society members working hard to further occupational hygiene in their own arena, and to encourage more young members to participate in Society affairs.

Chris has worked for London Underground for 14 years and has corporate responsibility for advice on all occupational hygiene aspects which may affect the staff, customers or neighbours of the company.

This covers such diverse matters as asbestos, noise, heavy metals in water samples, Weil's disease and pigeon droppings.

He has been an active member of the BOHS for many years, presenting technical papers, serving on committees and as a Council member and is a Fellow of its Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (FFOH).

With a wealth of experience in the field of occupational hygiene, Chris is ready for the challenges that the role of President will bring.
