BOHS (the British Occupational Hygiene Society) is organising an open technical seminar, 'Emerging compliance offshore and on', to take place at Woodbank House, Cults, Aberdeen, from 12.30 to 17.00 on Wednesday 5 October 2005.

This seminar has been developed by BOHS' Offshore (Oil and Gas) Special Interest Group (SIG) in conjunction with CChec, and is being sponsored by Shell EP Europe.

It is aimed at all health and safety professionals working within the oil and gas industries, and will provide an update on emerging and current occupational hygiene and health issues affecting this sector.

Presentations from representatives of the HSE, industry and consultancy will cover noise and vibration, asbestos, benzene and occupational health surveillance issues around compliance and enforcement.

The final session will provide the opportunity for an open forum to debate the subjects raised.

Alongside the seminar, there will also be an exhibition of confined space entry equipment, as well as RPE (respiratory protective equipment) and other test equipment.

This is a half-day programme and it is open to all; attendance will count towards continuing professional development (CPD) not just on the BOHS scheme but on any organisations' schemes which are self-administered.

The full programme is available on the events calendar on the BOHS website, where you can now book on-line.

The cost, which includes lunch and refreshments, is £40 for BOHS members or £60 for non-members.
