The BOHS is organising a seminar, 'New Regulations for Old Problems - reducing the human cost of excessive exposure to occupational noise and vibration', which will take place on 30 November 2005.

The BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) is organising a seminar, 'New Regulations for Old Problems - reducing the human cost of excessive exposure to occupational noise and vibration', which will take place at the Assembly House, Norwich, from 09:30 to 16:00 on Wednesday 30 November 2005.

The morning session of this one-day seminar, hosted by the British Occupational Hygiene Society, will cover the proposed changes to the noise at work regulations, focusing on their practical implementation, exploring some of the more controversial aspects, and considering whether they will be more effective than the current regulations.

The afternoon session will cover vibration issues, in particular the causes of hand-arm and whole-body vibration and how to assess, control and comply with the requirements of the new vibration regulations.

This will be a timely and informative seminar, aimed at all health and safety practitioners, with speakers who bring a combined wealth of experience in these areas from the HSE, consultancies, and occupational health and manufacturing sectors.

There will also be an exhibition of noise and vibration measurement equipment and hearing defenders.

The full programme is available via the events calendar on the BOHS website, where bookings can also be made on-line.

The cost, which includes lunch, refreshments and VAT, is just £40 for BOHS members, or £60 for non-members.

Attendance may count towards Continuing Professional Development not just on the BOHS CPD scheme but on any organisations' schemes which are self-administered.
