Best practice publication for design engineering
BSI Business Information has published the newly revised and renamed best practice publication for design engineering BS8888:2004 Technical Product Specification.
"Part 4: Seamless cold drawn tubes for hydraulic and pneumatic power systems" is priced at GBP 74, or GBP 37 to BSI Subscribing Members.
"Part 5: Welded and cold sized square and rectangular tubes" is priced similarly.
In each part, tubes are characterised by having precisely defined tolerances on dimensions and a specified surface roughness.
Contents include: classification and designation, information to be supplied by the purchaser, manufacturing process, requirements, inspection, sampling, test methods, marking, and protection and packaging.
This standard supersedes various parts to BS6323:1982.
Parts 1-3 were published at the end of 2002.
