PD 5500:2006 published for welded
pressure vessels
BSI has published PD 5500:2006 'Specification for unfired fusion welded pressure vessels', which supersedes PD 5500:2003.
PD 5500:2006 'Specification for unfired fusion welded pressure vessels' from BSI (British Standards Institution) specifies requirements for the material, design, manufacture, inspection, testing and verification of compliance for unfired fusion welded pressure vessels manufactured from carbon, ferritic alloy and austenitic steels, aluminium, copper and nickel used in a wide range of process and energy industry applications The term 'pressure vessel' as used in this specification includes branches up to the point of connection to the connecting piping by bolting, screwing or welding, and supports, brackets or other attachments directly welded to the pressure-containing shell

Standard sets transmission belt specs
British Standards has just published a new edition of BS3790, a full revision of the standard used by the power transmission industry.
The term 'unfired' excludes vessels that are subject to direct generated heat or flame impingement from a fired process.
It includes vessels subject to electrical heating or heated process streams.
PD 5500:2006 supersedes PD 5500:2003, which will be withdrawn on publication.
It is described as an invaluable reference tool containing all the latest pressure vessel information; it contains relevant dimensional diagrams and formulae for material determination, plus it specifies requirements for materials, design, manufacture, inspection, testing and verification.
The Published Document provides the basis for vessel design and manufacture for Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) compliance, and it contains all amendments, annexes and enquiry cases made during last three years.
This is the start of new three-year cycle including updates and new enquiry cases.
There will also be a new online format, the details of which will be made available in the final year.
The three-year subscription to PD 5500:2006 includes the usual provisions of all amendments, enquiry cases and comes with a free binder and dividers.
During the last year of the subscription, the new online access to PD 5500 will be launched, including all subsequent amendments.
This is all included in the subscription.
This new tool will enable the document to be searched at ease.
