To address the need for consistent environmental information on the life cycle of a product and enable comparisons, BSI has published a new international standard on environmental labelling.

To address the need for consistent environmental information on the life cycle of a product and enable comparisons between products fulfilling the same function, the British Standards Institution (BSI) has published a new international standard on environmental labelling.

BS ISO 14025:2006 'Environmental labels and declarations, Type III environmental declarations, Principles and procedures' sets out the principles and procedures for developing Type III environmental declaration programmes and environmental declarations.

It establishes the use of the BS ISO 14040 Environmental management series in the development of Type III environmental declaration programmes and environmental declarations.

It also establishes principles for the use of additional environmental information.

BS ISO 14025:2006 is primarily intended for use in business-to-business communications, but can be used in certain conditions when communicating in a business-to-consumer capacity.
