Ensuring building projects are properly managed is of vital concern to a wide range of people. This new publication deals with the construction process from inception to handover.

To help organizations achieve successful delivery of construction projects, the British Standards Institution (BSI) has published PD 6079-4 Project management, a guide to project management in the construction industry.

Ensuring building projects are properly managed is of vital concern to a wide range of people from the architects, contractors and commissioners to the government and public at large.

This new publication deals with the construction process from inception to handover of the completed facility to the owner, occupier or operator, bringing together all guidance related to construction project management in one easy-to-read document.

It is also applies to projects that involve maintenance, repair, refurbishment, decommissioning or demolition.

This guide is intended to encourage and improve the use of project management in the construction industry.

It is relevant for all projects involving construction of buildings including: New building work; Civil engineering works; Mechanical and electrical infrastructure works; Energy and process plants; Projects involving the repair and maintenance of buildings ; Decommissioning projects ; Demolition of existing facilities.

PD 6079-4:2006 can be used for projects of any size as it gives sound principles as a basis together with more specific recommendations that can be tailored to specific projects.
