Pneumatic actuators turn both ways

A Bray Controls product story

The Series 92/93 is a rack and pinion double acting and spring return pneumatic actuator.

The Series 92/93 is a rack and pinion double acting and spring return pneumatic actuator.

The new actuator features two independently adjustable travel stop screws and a cam on the output shaft to permit precise bidirectional adjustment of actuator movement in both open and closed positions for quarter turn valves.

Series 92/93 actuators are rack and pinion, opposed-piston actuators available in two versions: double acting for rotation of 90, 135 and 180 degrees, and spring return for 90-degree rotation.

All double acting and spring return units are suitable for both on/off and throttling applications.

Their ideal use is actuating butterfly, ball or plug valves; however, they can be applied anywhere a rotation of 90, 135 and 180 degrees is needed.

They offer a maximum pressure of 10bar and for temperature ranges of -40 to +95C.

Several advanced features in the Series 92/93 include spring return units designed with the same housing length as the double acting.

This feature saves both cost and space.

The spring cartridges of the Series 93 spring return unit are inherently safe, minimising maintenance and providing simple disassembly and assembly.

Rotated on low friction acetal bearings, Bray units are well suited to handle offset loads to the gear and output shaft assembly.

The piston cylinder walls in the body are honed to a very fine finish thus reducing the overall coefficient of friction.

These features extend the life of the actuator and make the Series 92/93 one of the most efficient actuators on the market.

For actuators that can be actuated with other media such as hydraulic oil or water, please consult the factory for details.

Series 92/93 units additionally combine styling, strength, compactness, and simplicity of design.

A focus on new engineering and precision manufacturing has resulted in a fully modular product line with reduced overall size.

Bray actuators comply with ISO5211 dimensions.

Brayline accessories and Bray actuators both comply with VDI/VDE3845 (Namur recommendations).

The Series 92/93 design allows all accessories to mount directly to the actuator - providing flexibility and efficiency at reduced cost.

Other significant features include a one-piece, hardened alloy steel and zinc-plated output shaft and pinion gear for corrosion protection.

The pistons are die-cast aluminium.

The shaft position indicator clearly shows open or closed position and is easily removable for manual override function of the actuator.

The body is extruded aluminium with anodised corrosion protective coating.

The aluminium end caps are polyester powder coated for chemical resistance.

This coating is resistant to dilute aqueous acids, salts, aliphatic hydrocarbons, detergents, petroleum solvents, alcohols, greases and oils.
