Matlab will be available on Mac OS X, Apple's advanced Unix-based operating system, with the next release of The MathWorks product line.
Matlab will be available on Mac OS X, Apple's advanced Unix-based operating system, with the next release of The MathWorks product line.
With Matlab on Mac OS X, users will be able to use powerful, sophisticated technical computing tools in a graphical and intuitive environment.
"I'm really pleased to be able to announce The MathWorks renewed support for Apple and particularly Mac OS X", said Cleve Moler, Chairman and Chief Scientist at The MathWorks and the original author of Matlab.
"The Macintosh has a strong following among scientists and educators, and we're glad to be back".
"Having Matlab back on the Mac is tremendous for Apple's scientific and engineering customers", said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO.
"This is a perfect example of how developers are taking advantage of Mac OS X's Unix core combined with industry standards like OpenGL and Java".
Pricing and availability will be announced prior to the first commercial shipment of the next release of The MathWorks product line.
The release of the company's full line of Matlab and Simulink products for computation, programming and embedded systems design is expected later this year.
