Camtek has launched a sister product to its successful PEPS PentaCut five-axis laser CADCAM software - PEPS TubeCut.
Designed for the development and manipulation of tubes cut using rotary-axis laser machines, PEPS TubeCut dramatically reduces part development time and cost by removing the need for dry runs.
TubeCut is based on the core PEPS engine and benefits from the same style of user interface, combining a "workspace manager" with a familiar CAD desktop.
The workspace manager is tabbed graphically displaying the solids defining the tube section, the cutting profiles and the machining cycles that are to be applied, thereby simplifying the program structure and enabling simple graphical picking to modify any stage of the program.
TubeCut learns the way the operator works, allowing for frequently used sections or shapes to be stored in picking list for immediate retrieval.
Tubes of any cross-sectional shape can be designed in the solid model environment or selected from a range of standard parametrics.
Similar or differing tubes can be interpenetrated and the resulting trims are automatically extracted, the system then simply adds the cutting paths and calculates all rotary and linear movements.
A comprehensive nesting feature allows for large numbers of small parts to be produced automatically from a common tube section.
Each program can be created individually, then can be added to a nest with the desired quantity.
New parts and quantities are added until TubeCut reports that the tube is full.
As each part is selected TubeCut automatically checks the section of the material and reports if it is a suitable part for the nest.
Once nested the user can then see a visual simulation, showing both the part and the laser head rotating in real-time.
