The recent MACH 2004 show at the NEC in Birmingham has proven a resounding success for PEPS CADCAM developer Camtek, after a warm reception to version 5.3 of its latest software suite.

Commented Terry Antrobus: "We received a good mix of visitors from both existing customers and new prospects".

"Existing users are interested to see the more solids-based approach of PEPS 5.3, whilst our overall functionality and user-interfaces were well accepted by newcomers to PEPS".

"With cross-technology commonalities built into the PEPS interface, it is not difficult, for example, for a wire EDM user to understand milling or turning with PEPS".

With manufacturing displaying signs of increasing momentum after several heavy years Camtek has continued to benefit from a growing trend.

Antrobus added: "Companies are still reticent about outlaying large sums on new machinery until the up-turn is completely stable".

"We have been able to demonstrate how our software can squeeze more efficiency out of both programmers and machine tools".

Camtek also saw a considerable overseas interest over recent years, specifically with new resellers.

"We already enjoy a strong and established international dealer network, but we also met up with new potential partners in Europe and The Far East at the show".

PEPS version 5.3 is available now from Camtek and supports 2D/3D milling, turning, wire EDM, multi-axis and tube-cutting applications.
