The Katana and Sabre ranges of factory PCs are claimed to bring a whole new level of efficiency to the factory floor.

Captec's Katana and Sabre ranges of factory PCs - designed specifically to work in the most unfriendly environmental conditions - are claimed to bring a whole new level of efficiency to the factory floor.

In addition to issuing and monitoring work orders, Captec's Katana and Sabre PCs can interface with production machinery as part of a complete MES solution.

Each unit is built in a single enclosure, running Windows XP or Linux and featuring 15in LCDs.

Data can be entered from a membrane keyboard, touch screen, barcode or RFID reader, or direct from the factory machine.

Models range from low-cost IP54 rated fan-cooled and vented, to sealed IP65 rated with the latest fanless technology, using heat pipes to cool the processor and disperse heat to massive heatsinks.

These models are designed to survive a daily washdown in food factories.

Payback time, seen as direct cost savings and increased productivity, according to existing German and Austrian industrial customers, is often less than 12 months.
