The sensor is based on diffuse reflection but uses triangulation to detect the target instead of using only the reflected light intensity.
The sensitivity is electrically adjusted and the built in microprocessor makes it possible to detect a flat black object only a few centimetres in front of a highly reflective background.
The sensor is designed to ignore background objects which might cause erroneous fault triggering and result in lost production time.
The sensors are built into a strong fibreglass reinforced housing of Polycarbonate/ABS with three mounting holes and IP67 sealing.
The 10-30VDC supply, make/break switching and selectable NPN/PNP output make it easy to connect and the connectors themselves can be rotated to allow the device to be easily mounted in the most appropriate orientation.
The PC50 family also offers 10m retro-reflective sensing, 6m polarised retro reflective sensing, 1m diffuse-reflective and 20m through beam sensing in either 10-30VDC or multivoltage 10.8-265VDC and 20-265VAC.
In tests, the sensors significantly outperformed their stated capacities with no drop in performance.
