Soft starting and stopping in pump
applications
The new Carlo Gavazzi RSE CR1 soft-start controller has been designed, with pump and compressor systems in mind, to deliver soft starting and stopping to asynchronous motors
The starting and stopping of pump and compressor systems puts high demands on gears, shafts and electric motors Selecting a Carlo Gavazzi soft-start controller can reduce wear and downtime and avoid high replacement and service costs in applications where inverter drives and speed controls are not suited

Neat electronic alarm warns of water leaks
Waterstop is a new electronic alarm system which provides an early warning of water leaks; it fits on to the wall at ground level and can be hidden completely behind the wall panel
The new Carlo Gavazzi RSE CR1 soft-start controller has been designed, with these systems in mind, to deliver soft starting and stopping to asynchronous motors.
The start/stop profiles can be user selected to obtain the best performance in relation to pump and compressor loads.
All settings are easy to adjust using the simple controls located on the front of the device.
These adjustments control the initial torque, run-up and run-out times.
Typical ramp profiles are provided to make the choice as straightforward as possible.
It is also possible to introduce a "kick-start" to give the system the initial push that may be required for rotation to start.
The Carlo Gavazzi RSE CR1 uses internal bypass relays to maintain compact proportions, whilst retaining its high operational rating of up to 11KW (25A, 400VAC).
Used in conjunction with a circuit breaker, the RSE CR1 represents an extremely effective motor starter solution.
