Manufacturer rests assured after thermal survey

A Hawk IR International product story

A recent thermographic survey was necessary to establish if there was a costly breakdown in the refractory wall of a local gas plant.

Cockburn Thermal Imaging was involved in a recent thermographic survey to establish if there was a costly breakdown in the refractory wall of a local gas plant.

The company was asked to survey the refractory, in conjunction with the original manufacturer, to assess whether or not any repair work was needed in their next shutdown.

Thermal imaging technology was used to quickly identify areas of concern while the furnace was still in operation, with images being taken from up to 50m away.

The survey was a complete success, providing the customer with a detailed report showing areas of minimal concern, with the thermal imaging technology giving them peace of mind that no major repair work was needed.

Cockburn Thermal Imaging has since trained this manufacturing company and hired out the camera for use on another of their projects, saving time and cost by reducing the survey operation to a one-person job.
