The latest open Fieldbus, CC-Link, and its foundation, the CLPA, is gaining momentum following a successful launch of the European section of the CLPA at the Hanover Messe
The latest open Fieldbus, CC-Link, and its foundation, the CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA), is gaining momentum, following a successful launch of the European section of the CLPA at the Hanover Messe.
CC-Link originally started as the Asian equivalent to Profibus and DeviceNet type Fieldbuses, but is now recognised as a new benchmark standard in worldwide Open Fieldbus technology, since arriving in the European marketplace.
This new Open standard technology was originally developed in 1996, by the huge Mitsubishi Electric corporation for their own usage.
So popular was the network with end users and Mitsubishi's partner companies, that it agreed to hand over CC-link in its entirety to a new independent foundation called the CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) to manage the development, implementation and conformance testing of this latest Open Fieldbus.
CC-Link is specifically designed to be continually developed and to keep pace with changing technological and user requirements.
CC-Link is designed to do deterministic simultaneous control and data transmissions and to give the highest possible network availability with its 26 station floating master capability.
Its extremely fast reaction times are due to uncomplicated yet highly effective protocols.
All this and more allow this Fieldbus to be different in many ways and with the stringent conformance testing of compatible products, ensures problem free connectivity for any CC-Link system worldwide.
Malcolm Robins, CLPA European General Manager states.
" Anybody looking to export networkable solutions to Asia must consider the strengths of CC-Link, which is currently selling 3 times as many nodes as Profibus or DeviceNet." Over 150 Automation equipment manufacturers have already implemented CC-Link, and between these member companies they have produced more than 300 compatible products, with already over 650,000 nodes installed throughout the world.
With the success of CC-Link at Hannover Messe, a host of new European manufacturers are rushing to have connectivity.
To service the increasing demand for support on this New Open Fieldbus, service branches have already been created by the CLPA.
With offices in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, China, North America and Europe, giving a great foundation for the CLPA aim of making CC-Link the third best selling Fieldbus in Europe within 3 years and the top Open Fieldbus worldwide within 5 years.
Vendors and users alike are invited to join the CC-Link Partner Association.
