To provide a more cost-effective solution for limited nodes, in a small open network environment, Mitsubishi Electric has added a CC-Link system master block to its FX2N Series PLCs.

The FX2N module (FX2N-16CCL-M) allows any FX Series PLC to act as the master station in a CC-Link system, allowing up to 7 remote I/O stations and up to 8 remote device stations to be connected.

There are now well over 300 CC-Link compatible products from over 150 Automation equipment companies around the globe, stated Malcolm Robins of the CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA), who are responsible for the open networks development.
