Concurrent Technologies has announced the release of three new PIM's (PMC Interface Modules) to provide systems engineers with a flexible approach to adding Rear Panel I/O to VME and CompactPCI systems.

Designed for operation with Concurrent Technologies range of PMC (PIC Mezzanine Card) modules and Rear Panel I/O Transition Modules the PIM's conform to the VITA 36 -199X draft specification.

PIM's look similar to PMC modules but are shorter in length to enable them to be fitted onto standard 80mm deep Transition Module (TM).

The use of PIM's avoids the need to build custom Transition Modules for each combination of vendors PMC and PMC carrier board that may be used together.

The standard provides for user defined I/O and power on one of the PIM's connectors and PMC I/O on the remaining connector so that when not being used for PMC I/O a PIM site can be used to provide "system I/O".'.
