Concurrent Technologies are releasing the CP PSE/P3x Multibus II Single Board Computer featuring the 500MHz Intel Pentium III embedded microprocessor

Concurrent Technologies are continuing their commitment to Multibus II users with the release of the CP PSE/P3x Multibus II Single Board Computer featuring the 500MHz Intel Pentium III Embedded Microprocessor.

The CP PSE/P3 has been designed as a plug-in upgrade for the industry's popular CP PSE/P2x Multibus II board.

It provides system engineers with a smooth, low risk, migration strategy to meet higher performance computing requirements.

Depending on the application performance increases in the region of 50% are expected.

The board uses the low power 500 MHz Pentium III module with MMX technology, 32 Kbytes internal cache and 256 Kbytes secondary cache operating at internal clock frequency of the processor.

Intel's 82440BX chipset provides supports for a 100MHz front side memory bus with up to 512 Mbytes of high speed S-DRAM.

Eliminating the need for fans and the careful selection of extended life cycle components with high MTBF ensures a robust design with high reliability and continuity of supply.

The board shares the same feature set as its predecessor which includes a high speed Wide Ultra-2 SCSI interface using the Symbios Logic 53C895 device, a single PMC host expansion slot, 8 Mbytes of application Flash EPROM, 512 Kbytes of BIOS Flash, two RS-232 serial channels and PS/2 keyboard.

For compatibility with legacy software the board can be populated with a variety of different Ethernet controllers including 21143 10/100BaseT.

Further I/O expansion capability is provided via the use of an optional PMC carrier, which can be fitted to the board.

The CP PSE/P3 supports iRMX, UnixWare, VxWorks and Windows NT operating systems and is designed to run existing Multibus II software applications without modification.
