Copper Development Association have just issued a revision of the popular 'Copper tube in buildings', publication 88, first produced in 1991.
Distributed generation offers many benefits, including important political issues such as increasing the security of supply and reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.
Although these, and other additional benefits, are clearly identified, DG and RES are not always economically viable.
According to the author, Rob van Gerwen of Kema Nederland, their viability depends heavily on energy prices and stimulation measures from European and national governments.
He concludes: "A stable political course with regard to stimulation measures for DG and RES is necessary to encourage serious investments by market parties in additional DG and RES capacity".
"Introduction to distributed generation and renewable energy sources", together with application notes on cogeneration and wind power, launches the latest section of the essential reference source from Leonardo energy, the "Power quality and utilisation guide".
Formerly known as the "Power quality application guide", this eight section guide has an extended scope which now includes DG, RES and rational use of energy.
Individual application notes can be downloaded from the CDA website, and a fully searchable CD with the set of 32 application notes can be obtained free of charge.
