Launched at the recent Aerosense 2003 exhibition in Orlando (USA), the new Ruby handheld night vision camera from Cedip Infrared Systems generated considerable interest.

Launched at the recent Aerosense 2003 exhibition in Orlando (USA), the new Ruby handheld night vision camera from Cedip Infrared Systems generated considerable interest from visitors particularly those involved within the police, defence and security communities Designed for applications that require portability the lightweight and ergonomic design of the Ruby camera, powered by long life rechargeable batteries, allows operators to use the system over extended periods without discomfort

Operational utility is also aided by binocular viewing and the high brightness and contrast of the IR image display.

To extend battery life the Ruby enables special low power and screen saver modes to be activated.

In addition to handheld operation the camera can be installed onto tripods or masts and be fully remotely controlled via a serial link.

Benefiting from the latest uncooled microbolometer focal plane array technology, operating in the 8-12um waveband, the Ruby uses advanced image processing algorithms to provide leading-edge sharp and clear images.

Using a focal plane array of 320 x 240pixel the Ruby camera offers a best-of-class thermal sensitivity of less than 80mK meaning that an intruder can be detected at a typical range of 1km.

Positive customer reaction was also received for the new Jade UC camera whose high performance, user friendly software and extended range of industrial outputs were appreciated by those involved with automation and process control applications.
