Cedip Infrared Systems has delivered a dedicated Jade UC camera to the Eurocopter Group.

Cedip Infrared Systems has delivered a dedicated Jade UC camera to the Eurocopter Group.

The camera will be installed in the nose fuselage of a Eurocopter helicopter and will transmit IR thermal images to the pilot on the main head-up display in the cockpit.

This useful addition to the helicopter will provide all weather assistance to the pilot during the delicate landing phase of operations.

Packaged in a sealed unit the robust Jade UC offers IP54 standard protection against the ingress of rain and humidity.

This makes it the perfect IR camera for outdoor applications.

At the core of the system supplied to Eurocopter the standard Jade UC camera offers the ruggedness to sustain the temperature and vibration conditions imposed during flight.

Using a focal plane sensor of 320 x 240 pixels, operating in the 8-12um waveband, the Jade UC camera offers best-of-class performance with thermal sensitivity of less than 80mK and a thermal response time of less than 4ms.

Operating at up to 100 frames per second at full image, with output digitised over a complete 14bit dynamic range the Jade UC provides the high quality imaging required by this application.
