CD-Adapco embeds Star-CAD v4.02 in major 3D-CAD packages.

CD-Adapco has released Star-CAD v4.02, an upfront flow and thermal simulation tool embedded inside major 3D-CAD packages This version for the Windows 32bit platform includes Star-Cat5 for Catia V5, Star-Pro/E for Pro/Engineer Wildfire, Star-NX for NX and Star-Works for Solidworks

The software lets design and project engineers undertake basic flow simulation, even if they are lacking experience in traditional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.

Because it is embedded, the CFD part becomes an integral part of the CAD model.

Simulations can be set-up and run within each CAD environment.

Because of the full associativity with the geometry, any design changes made in response to simulation results are reflected almost immediately.

Designs are updated at the click of a button without additional user intervention.

The version adds boundary conditions and external thermal treatments.

A volume meshing strategy is included for assemblies, faster mesh generation and solver speeds, and there are improvements to the turbulence modelling that reduce grid sensitivity.

The reporting of engineering quantities has been improved with the addition of HTML based reporting.

Interactive, 3D results files can be sent direct to the manager or client with a freeware visualisation utility.
