The latest version of Star-Works, a CAD-embedded computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tool for Solid Works, will be unveiled at Solid Works World 2006 from 22nd to 25th January 2006 in Las Vegas, USA CD Adapco will be demonstrating Star-Works on stand 209

Star-Works is part of the Star-CAD Series and was created to enable design and project engineers to undertake basic flow simulation, even if they are lacking experience in traditional CFD analysis.

CFD functionality is presented as additional menus within Solid Works.

Because the CFD becomes an integral part of the Solid Works CAD model, full associativity with the model is maintained throughout the simulation process, so any design changes made in response to simulation results are reflected almost immediately.

Star-Works version 4.02 has added boundary conditions and external thermal treatment.

Other additions in the version include improved user productivity from a volume meshing strategy for assemblies, faster mesh generation and solver speeds, and improvements to the turbulence modelling that reduces grid sensitivity.

The reporting of engineering quantities has been improved with the addition of HTML based reporting.

Interactive, 3D results scenes can be sent direct to the manager or client with a freeware visualisation utility, enabling fast and efficient communication of flow simulation data.
