The latest version of Star-Cat5, the PLM-embedded flow and simulation tool for Catia V5, will be unveiled at COE your Way from 20th to 22nd March 2006 in Atlanta, USA CD-Adapco, the developer of Star-Cat5 and the Star-CD and Star-CCM+ CFD codes, will be demonstrating Star-Cat5 on stand 604

In the competitive environment of industry today, up-front simulation has become a competitive necessity, allowing users to confirm design assumptions and predict product performance early in the product design process.

Star-Cat5, part of the Star-CAD series, has been created to enable design and project engineers to undertake basic flow simulation, even if they are lacking experience in traditional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.

The product maintains operability while introducing additional capabilities and productivity enhancements.

Star-Cat5 is embedded within the Catia V5 environment.

CFD functionality is presented as additional easy-to-use menus within Catia.

Because the CFD analysis becomes an integral part of the Catia model, full associativity with the model is maintained throughout the simulation process, so any design changes made in response to simulation results are reflected almost immediately.

Analyses are updated at the click of a button without additional user intervention.

Star-Cat5 v4.02 has added user-driven features and enhancements.

This version features numerous capabilities such as: the addition of boundary conditions and external thermal treatment; user productivity by a volume meshing strategy for assemblies; faster mesh generation and solver speeds; and improvements to the turbulence modelling that reduce grid sensitivity.

The reporting of engineering quantities has been improved with the addition of HTML based reporting.

Interactive, 3D results scenes can be sent direct to the manager or client with a freeware visualisation utility, enabling fast and efficient communication of flow simulation data.

"Design engineers need tools that have the required simulation capabilities, are robust, fast and accurate, intuitive and integrated within their design environment", said Jean-Claude Ercolanelli, CD-Adapco's Product Manager for the Star-CAD series.

"I am confident that Star-Cat5 v4.02 will enable our users to extract the highest value".

"The ability to shorten the product development cycle translates into dramatic savings at the bottom-line".

"Star-Cat5 customers will benefit from better product performance in less time, at lower costs, with less physical testing".
