CD-adapco has congratulated its friends and partners in the Renault F1 Team on Fernando Alonso's second successive FIA Formula One Drivers' World Championship.

On a typically hot Sao Paulo afternoon, the 25-year-old Spaniard became the youngest back-to-back world champion in the history of the sport, guiding his blue and yellow R26 to its 14th podium finish of the season.

After dominating the middle season with four consecutive victories between Catalunya and Montreal, (contributing to an overall tally of eight Renault F1 Team wins for the season), Alonso started the Brazilian Grand Prix knowing that just a single point would be enough to secure his second world title.

With a typical display of cool driving under pressure, that result was never in doubt.

Together with team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella's battling sixth position, Alonso's comfortable second place was enough to complete a clean-sweep of titles, securing the FIA Formula One Constructors' World Championship for the Renault F1 Team for a second consecutive season.

CD-adapco has supplied advanced CAE software to the Renault F1 Team since its inception in 2001.

The RS26 engine, and R26 chassis are designed with the aid of CD-adapco's world leading computational fluid dynamics software Star-CD and Star-CCM+.

CD-adapco is easily the most successful CFD supplier in Formula 1.

Of the points awarded during the 2006 season, incredibly almost 70% have been awarded to teams that use Star-CD or Star-CCM+ for aerodynamic or engine simulation.

Flavio Briatore, Managing Director of the Renault F1 Team, is appreciative of CD Adpaco's contribution: "The support that CD-adapco have provided has played a key role in the package and I wish to thank you on behalf of everyone at the team for your valued contribution in helping us to secure successive Drivers' and Constructors' World Championships".

For Steve MacDonald, President and founder of CD-adapco, Renault's victory is the perfect illustration of the advantage that CD-adapco's partners gain from applying leading-CAE technology to their design process: "Success in industry, as in Formula 1, is measured by increasingly small margins".

"In the competitive environment of modern industry, using CD-adapco's CAE technology early in your design cycle can be the difference between winning and losing".

"We are glad to count Renault amongst our most valuable partners, and are proud to have been involved with the Renault F1 Team since the very start".
