Gateways link CFD with CAD environments
Star-CAD Gateways V4.10 is the latest version of the industry leading CAD and PLM-embedded front-ends for Star-CD V4 and Star-CCM+ V2.04.
CD-adapco has announced the release of Star-CAD Gateways V4.10, the latest version of the industry leading CAD and PLM-embedded front-ends for Star-CD V4 and Star-CCM+ V2.04.
The Star-CAD Gateways are addons to the full-spectrum computational fluid dynamics (CFD) products Star-CD and Star-CCM+, specifically created to enable engineers and analysts to undertake calculations directly within their CAD environment.
Because the CFD model is fully associative with the CAD geometry, any design changes made in response to simulation results or otherwise, are automatically reflected in the CFD model, and subsequently the solution.
This version features a set of implementations designed to enhance productivity and secure the simulation setup process.
Jean-Claude Ercolanelli, CD-adapco's Product Manager for the Star-CAD Gateways, is excited about this latest version: "The team has invested the majority of its time last year to meet with customers and carefully listen to their needs and requests".
"Over 90% of suggested enhancements have been implemented, resulting in a better, more intuitive product that matches with our customers high end needs".
Usability is increased with the introduction of a step-by-step process to guide users through the key stages in setting up and running a simulation, presented using the familiar menu system of the chosen host CAD package.
CD-adapco has ensured that the latest products adapt themselves to the expertise of the user; occasional users will find that simple default settings are sufficient to produce a sensible simulation, while more advanced users have full control over all aspects of the simulation setup.
For users with shared CAD resource, there is a new offline mode to free up the CAD license for other users while meshing, solving and post-processing.
Other enhancements will make it easier to share simulation data with other CFD and CAE engineers.
Surface meshes, volume meshes and model inputs can now be directly exported, as can simulation results, either for advanced post-processing or to provide boundary conditions for an FEA simulation.
Results can also be freely shared with nonusers and nonspecialists, using a lightweight free-to-distribute 3D results viewer.
