At the IBM fifth Annual Automotive CAE Symposium CD-adapco will be demonstrating a new capability that enables more accurate simulation of engine cooling.

CD-adapco will be demonstrating CAE and flow simulation technology at the IBM fifth Annual Automotive CAE Symposium, to be held on Wednesday, May 9th 2007, at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management, Troy, Michigan, USA.

Attendees to the symposium will learn about the trends that are shaping the future of vehicle and component development, and will have the opportunity to hear from industry leaders, top IBM business partners and application providers as they share what's new in the market along with real-life experiences and demonstrations of the latest solutions.

At the meeting CD-adapco will be demonstrating a new capability that enables more accurate simulation of engine cooling.

The new process employs CD-adapco's robust meshing technology to automatically generate a single, multi-domain computational mesh that includes the cylinder head, engine block and water jacket, overcoming the largest obstacle to performing conjugate heat transfer simulations of engines.

A robust and validated model for sub-cooled nucleate boiling is used to more accurately model the heat-transfer process and the generation, transport and destruction of vapour.

CD-adapco will also be demonstrating STAR-CCM+, which is rapidly becoming the code of choice for external aerodynamicists: of planes, trains, and automobiles or oilrigs, ships and buildings.

A combination of features makes it a complete toolkit for the CFD aerodynamicist.

These include an automatic process from geometry to high-quality hexahedral or polyhedral mesh, robust and accurate solvers, custom-made pre-and post-processing for external aerodynamics and unrivalled efficiency in handling calculations involving hundreds of millions of cells.
