CADwire.net has selected Ipifini as the winner of its 2005 Tech Innovator Awards.
CADwire.net has selected Ipifini as the winner of its 2005 Tech Innovator Awards.
Ipifini features the Innovation Engine, a proprietary database-driven software that generates, elaborates and drafts new product ideas.
The technology also enables rapid creation of patent documentation for filing.
"The innovation engine begins with a current state-of-the art product, described in a CAD-like table", says Tod Woolf, PhD founder and President, Ipifini.
"Sets of modified products are generated by systematically applying 'morphs' to the state-of-the-art product".
"The resulting database of modified products is interactively screened by the user to select useful modifications".
"The database is also used to search the patent literature in order to determine if the modified products are novel, and finally, used to create tables, graphics and text for patent applications".
"When Ipifini was founded we sought to create software or technology that could help us innovate and also assist in creating patent applications for innovations", Woolf states.
"We are at the point of launching this service now and the CADwire Tech Innovator's award is great confirmation of the viability of this technology".
"While there were many worthy nominations for the CADwire.net Tech Innovator Award this year, we found that Ipifini brought a new approach to an existing problem - something that CADwire.net always tries to recognise", said Rick Stavanja, Editor-in-Chief, CADwire.net.
"Until now, innovation typically took place on napkins, chalk boards, and workbenches".
"Conversely, computer-based tools are best suited to facilitate the implementation of those innovations".
"Ipifini is the first real technology tool I've seen to truly seed and facilitate innovation itself".
Ipifini was founded in late 2003 by Tod Woolf, PhD, to research the process of innovation.
As a result of the core findings, a multidisciplinary innovation team was created and designed the Innovation Engine, on which there are two patents pending.
The technology will be available under licence and currently evaluation of OEM partners is underway.
The award will be presented this week during the COFES 2005 event in Scottsdale, Arizona.
