A recent seal technology success story saw the installation of a Hifluor O-ring in a chemical manufacturing facility that previously used an alternative Perfluoroelastomer on a mechanical seal
Some of the latest developments in new sealing compounds for the chemical industry include Hifluor and Parafluor; these compounds have been developed to meet the needs of the chemical process industry.
A recent success story saw the installation of a Hifluor O-ring in a chemical manufacturing facility that previously used an alternative Perfluoroelastomer on a mechanical seal.
The media consisted of a mix of Methylacrylates, Sulphuric acid and Carbon monoxide gas.
The previous best was 61 days pump running time before chemical attack caused a mechanical seal failure, the Parker Hifluor compound achieved in excess of 150 days on the same pump, savings on downtime and mechanical seal replacement were estimated at £63,000 year.
The Hifluor seal offer temperature stability to 260C whilst retaining excellent sealing memory and low compression set.
The seals are available in O Rings, Gaskets and Moulded shapes.
