Two new sealing compounds are specifically designed to meet the needs of industrial paint systems: Paroflour Quantum perflour rubber compound and Hifluor fluoroelastomer.

Two new sealing compounds are specifically designed to meet the needs of industrial paint systems: Paroflour Quantum perflour rubber compound and Hifluor fluoroelastomer.

Developed by the Parker Hannifin Worldwide Seal Group, both are resistant to the four specific components of paint: binding agents, solvents, pigments and additives.

They do not have to be exchanged when the paint colour or composition is changed, and are suitable for use in the majority of applications across a broad range of media.

Industrial paint applications are used in many different industries including automotive, chemical, petrochemical, paper and textiles, utilising thin films of paint to protect objects from abrasion and damage, and enhance aesthetic functions.

As technology and paint formulations within this field have progressed, they have rendered traditional O-rings ineffectual for use in painting machinery.

In particular the design of traditional O-rings can cause "paint pockets" to form inside assembly spaces in production machinery.

As a result, paint residues become trapped and contaminate the new medium when a colour is changed.

The new Parofluor Quantum and Hifluor seals from Ceetak have been specially designed to overcome these problems, using a unique geometry to eliminate the danger of paint pockets.

Parofluor Quantum provides effective sealing performance in temperatures ranging from -15 to +230C.

It is ideal for use in most applications, such as automotive paints and lacquers, and in a comparison test with four competing products, provided the best resistance to amine-based rinsing agents as well as base paints.

Hifluor has a slightly wider temperature performance range of -25 to +260C and is also recommended for automotive painting and lacquering processes, which take place within the standard +25 to +80C range.

It also has an excellent memory/compression set and is a cost effective alternative to other perfluoroelastomer seals.
