Course looks at innovative design
The University of Durham is currently accepting registrations for a week-long short industrial course on "Innovative design", from 7th to 11th February 2005.
The content is specifically focused on the needs of engineers in a range of companies, including conventional batch, mass manufacture and one-off projects.
The early part of the course will introduce basic financial statements and their analysis.
Subsequent days are industry-based and are, in the main, taught by industrial practitioners (including finance managers, finance directors and CEOs).
One day deals with sources of finance and will be taught by staff from a major bank, venture capitalist etc.
All material taught is consolidated by means of practical hands-on exercises and open discussion.
The aim of the course is to equip delegates with the skills to design financial proposals and monitor their investment as an integral part of taking a product to market.
For delegates whose work schedules do not enable a full week's attendance, there will be limited opportunities for the days to be taken separately.
The cost for each course is GBP 1200 (VAT exempt).
SMEs should be eligible for funding, typically 50% of cost, from local funding support organisations.
The content of each day is "free standing" and can be taken on its own at a charge of GBP 250.
