Multigear for high torque, low speed demands

A Centa Transmissions product story

Specifically designed for high torque, low speed applications, the Centa Multigear units operate in the 5,000Nm to 550,000 Nm output torque range with output speeds generally less than 5 rpm.

Specifically designed for high torque, low speed applications, the Centa Multigear units operate in the 5,000Nm to 550,000 Nm output torque range with output speeds generally less than 5 rpm.

The drive assembly combines the benefits of two different gear principles.

The high speed high reduction ratio characteristics of the cycloidal input stage are combined with the low speed high torque characteristics of the planetary output stage to provide a very compact and cost effective drive assembly.

Overall reduction ratios are from 300:1 to in excess of 1,000,000:1.

With such high reduction ratios, conventional overload protection adjacent to the motor is considered to be ineffective.

Therefore Centa would normally include a mechanical torque limiter between the reduction stages and close to the final drive to give reliable and responsive overload protection.

Remote trip indication and automatic reset options are available to suit the particular application.
