Flexible coupling disperses heat quickly

A Centa Transmissions product story

The Centamax-HTC considerably reduces the internal operating temperature of the coupling and increases coupling life.

Centa Transmissions has released a version of its Centamax flexible coupling which dissipates heat far more rapidly.

The Centamax-HTC coupling enables end-users to specify a rubber flexible coupling on modern diesel engines that are highly torsionally active, without the damaging heat concentration previously found in the centre of the coupling element.

High power/high output diesel engines often cause more vibration and consequently, heat build up is vastly increased.

Therefore, it is necessary to increase the capacity of heat dissipation.

The Centamax-HTC is effectively two flexible couplings in a single element.

This means that each part of the dual rubber element is narrower, providing increased airflow through the coupling.

This means that the cooling capacity increases and heat dissipates far more quickly than in a conventional single element.

The Centamax coupling is designed for generators, marine propulsion, locomotives, splitter gearboxes, screw compressors and rotary pumps.

These couplings are suitable for axial plug-in and therefore perfect for connection to flywheels in diesel engine flange housings.

The Centamax-HTC considerably reduces the internal operating temperature of the coupling and increases coupling life.

In many cases it is possible to specify a smaller, less stiff coupling with a higher heat capacity.

This eliminates the necessity for an expensive, complex and space-consuming coupling, making the Centamax-HTC a significantly more cost-efficient drive solution.

The Centamax-HTC is developed initially as an 18,000Nm coupling.

Extensive testing confirms the improvement in efficiency and heat reduction performance.
