Centa introduces test bed couplings

A Centa Transmissions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 6, 2009

Centa has developed Centax-Test highly flexible test bed coupling to ensure an optimal test environment for modern engines.

Growing requirements for performance, emissions, consumption and service life of modern engines are some of the challenges facing engine manufacturers.

The new designs or redesigns will have to prove in the test field whether they keep their promise.

According to the rule: only optimum conditions will provide conclusive test data.

Centa provides the suitable test bed couplings for such tasks with its Centax-Test.

Due to its torsionally soft characteristics, vibrations in the drive train are reduced, while the couplings compensate axial, radial and angular misalignments.

This conserves both the test bed and test sample, thereby prolonging operating lives.

Moreover, all values established under such conditions provide a much more accurate picture.

The core of the modular designed Centax-Test consists of elements made of natural rubber or silicone and supplied in different ranges of Shore hardness.

They come in various designs and sizes as well as in varying degrees of torsional stiffness.

By combining two to four elements, torsional stiffness can be varied further.

Precise centring and radial supports for the elements make them suitable for high torques.

They cover a torque range of 0.2 to 650kNm.

In combination with other proven components, such as homokinetic joints, cardan joints, sliding elements, flanges and adapters, they achieve high flexibility in all directions as well as adaptability with regard to construction and installation conditions.

Length and dimensions for connection can be adapted to any kind of installation site, and replacements can be managed without much effort.

In addition, the couplings are equipped with high-strength aluminium flanges.
