Airbus supply chain initiatives
Disparate departments linked with Catia's collaborative knowledge management tools empowered with three-dimensional information on products and processes.
In September 2000 Airbus started to make plans to implement Catia V5 across their transnational companies - the aim was to link once-disparate departments with Catia's collaborative knowledge management tools empowered with three-dimensional information on products and processes Over 2000 seats are now in plan to roll out across the enterprise "Deploying common methods and processes based on a common set of tools across the whole entity is a major driver to harmonise the development processes in Airbus," said Rolf-Stefan Scheible, vice-president Airbus Concurrent Engineering (ACE)

Airbus UK has now taken the step to mandate the use of Catia V5 in the design and manufacture of wings and landing gear to the forthcoming A380F freighter version of the double desk A380 passenger aircraft; and the A400M military transport.
This applies throughout their internal design function, out to their external design and manufacture supplier community.
All suppliers into these aircraft programs need now to make ready for meeting the needs of Airbus.
