To coincide with the last GITEX exhibition held in Dubai recently Connectix opened a sales and distribution office in Dubai to offer sales and support services to the growing Middle East markets.

Connectix Cabling Systems has been a top-four supplier into the UK and Irish structured cabling market for many years and is now expanding into the Middle East.

To coincide with the last GITEX exhibition held in Dubai recently Connectix opened a sales and distribution office in Dubai to offer sales and support services to the growing Middle East markets.

Tariq Shaikh has been appointed as Regional Manager for the Middle East and North Africa region and is based in the Connectix Dubai office.

Tariq joins Connectix from Belden where he headed the Middle East and Africa sales and sales support teams.

His career includes more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing and key account management.

Tariq has worked on cabling projects in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, South Africa and the UAE.

Tariq will be also be concentrating on the appointment of Connectix' affiliates across the region, which compliments the activities from the Cyprus-based Connectix office that already supports Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Malta and Greece.

According to Tariq, "Connectix Cabling Systems has a distinct appeal to the Middle East and African region by being a UK-manufactured cabling system".

"Our RandD facilities, QA assembly and inspection systems and production plant are open for visits at the head office in England".

"Our reputation for innovation and quality generated some excellent business opportunities for us in 2006 and as we are the first UK-based manufacturer to acquire third-party verification our Net 10G launch in Dubai naturally generated an excellent level of interest".

Connectix is currently celebrating its first major contract in Dubai after being appointed as the principal cabling supplier to the Dubai Festival City project.

Dubai Festival City covers 4km of the historic Dubai Creek waterfront area and will include 1600 acres of shops, hotels and high-quality living accommodation.

Work has already started on the cabling installation by the Connectix approved installer Atra International.
