Effective direct mail for filters firm recognised

A catalogue sent to prospective new clients has helped clinch a custom built filter manufacturer an award for an outstanding example of direct mail produced by a small or medium-sized business

A catalogue sent to prospective new clients by Croft Engineering Services, has helped clinch them a coveted business award.

The firm, which manufactures and sells custom built filters for a range of industries, sent out the brochures offering a comprehensive filtering service, and focused on the new technical literature available.

The mailing proved highly effective and the company received £12,000 worth of sales as a result.

Now the company, based in Risley, Warrington, has won the regional heat in the Winning Business category, in Royal Mail's sixth annual Winning Post Awards.

The awards recognise and reward the most outstanding examples of direct mail produced by small and medium-sized businesses.

Neil Burns, a partner at Croft Engineering, says the response was fantastic: "We wanted to get in touch with businesses who hadn't used our services before and show them what we had to offer.

We're really pleased our work has been recognised in this way." Derek Fairhurst, Royal Mail's Director of Distance Selling said that the quality of entries to the Winning Post Awards keeps improving year on year.

Says Fairhurst: "Croft Engineering's campaign sums up what these awards have always been about.

We're championing smaller businesses with smaller budgets who are still producing brilliant work - you don't have to be a big corporation with a big budget to be effective." The team is now on the shortlist alongside other businesses from around the country who are in the running for the national Winning Business award and an overall prize which will be awarded at a ceremony in London next Spring.
