Insulating bushes provide more than insulation!

A Challenge (Europe) product story

Challenge Industrial Fastenings are now offering the Korrex range of insulating bushes for where two incompatible metals are in contact, such as aluminium and steel,

Specialist fastener suppliers, Challenge Industrial Fastenings Ltd, now offer the Korrex range of insulating bushes to complement their range of threaded fasteners.

These bushes provide the solution to the problems of galvanic (electrolytic) corrosion.

Where two incompatible metals are in contact, such as aluminium and steel, the presence of moisture (electrolyte) can create significant problems.

This type of situation can occur, for example where two metal plates are being clamped together using a nut and bolt.

The Korrex insulating bush acts by separating the bolt from the surrounding material.

In so doing it also provides an element of sealing, which may be enhanced by the inclusion of a Dubo ring - also available from Challenge.

The insulating bush has the additional advantage of reducing problems associated with vibration, and can also act as a guide or spacer.

Korrex insulating bushes are available in a range of metric and imperial sizes from M4 to M20, or 1/4" to 1".

They are manufactured from superpolyamide, and can withstand temperatures within the range -60C to +120C.

They come in two forms - counter-sunk for a flush or sub-flush finish, and shouldered for use with surface mounted fasteners.
