Low-tech solution answers high-tech problem
Challenge Industrial Fastenings was able to help out with a solution to an assembly problem on high tech MRI scanner equipment recently.
Challenge Industrial Fastenings was able to help out with a solution to an assembly problem on high tech MRI scanner equipment recently.
The problem lay with an existing tension pin assembly in a nonmagnetic clamp.
This project was taken on by the engineers at Challenge to a successful conclusion with a revised assembly process.
The principle involved targeting expertise at an appropriate level rather than using high-end engineering for a relatively low-technology component.
The solution included the use of semi-tubular stainless-steel rivets with low dome head and sub-flush end to preclude damage to surgical gloves worn by operators.
Challenge defined physical dimensions and fit condition of the affected components.
They then undertook full assembly and supply on the basis of the engineering work and production capability at competitive cost.
