The "flash to bang" time from first contact to supply of first batch on site was achieved through the experience and global sourcing contacts of the experts at Challenge.
The domestic security package referred to includes brackets, padlock, screws and mounting plugs.
It is a good example of the restructuring of manufacturing industry in the UK which has led companies to include some very efficient new processes.
The outsourcing of procurement, subassembly and logistics is one of these.
Challenge sourced all components which it now procures on an on-going basis.
The company's quality role includes a 100% inspection process leading to full kitting and Kanban supply system on 24-hour delivery.
After the initial 24 hour exercise the brief now includes sourcing, stock control, demand planning and build, such that the manufacturer can concentrate on core competencies and simply pick from automatically replenished stock in returnable bins.
In addition Challenge is now able to take responsibility for control of tooling.
This enables its customers to benefit from the global sourcing expertise available at Challenge.
Likewise the logistics role includes supply to any site required by the customer.
