Challenge Industrial Fastenings now offers the Korrex range of insulating bushes to complement its range of threaded fasteners These bushes are engineered to provide a solution to the problems of galvanic (electrolytic) corrosion

Where two incompatible metals are in contact, such as aluminium and steel, the presence of moisture (electrolyte) can create significant problems.

The Korrex bush is purpose designed to prevent this phenomenon by mechanical separation while retaining integrity of the joint.

A typical situation can occur, for example, where two metal plates are being clamped together using a nut and bolt.

The Korrex insulating bush acts by separating the bolt from the surrounding material.

In so doing it also provides an element of sealing, which may be enhanced by the inclusion of a Dubo ring - also available from Challenge.

The insulating bush has the additional advantage of reducing problems associated with vibration, and can also act as a guide or spacer.

Korrex insulating bushes are available in a range of metric and imperial sizes from M4 to M20.

They are manufactured from superpolyamide, and can withstand temperatures within the range -60 to +120C.

They come in two forms - countersunk for a flush or subflush finish, and shouldered for use with surface mounted fasteners.
