Pump ups performance and reduces running costs

A Chem Resist Group product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 22, 2006

Air driven double diaphragm pump is constructed with three solid housing parts in either PTFE for chemical resistance or UHDPE for use with abrasive products.

Almatec has introduced the A Series air driven double diaphragm pump, a development from the firm's AD Series with increased performance and reduced running costs in terms of lower maintenance and a 40% reduction in air consumption.

The pump is constructed with three solid housing parts in either PTFE, providing almost universal chemical resistance, or UHDPE, which in addition to its general chemical resistance is also suitable for use with highly abrasive products.

It can be quickly disassembled for ease of maintenance.

The central housing part can be rotated allowing for three alternative port configurations.

The totally sealed, one piece diaphragms are manufactured in their priming position to increase efficiency and reduce air consumption.

These have been improved by the introduction of the bidirectional damping system.

The labyrinth-like system not only squeezes the diaphragm between the pump housings but also seals in the axial and radial planes.

This maintains the clamping force even when large tolerances occur in the pump housing, for example due to loose housing bolts.

This reduces maintenance time and increases safety.

One major problem with all air driven double diaphragm pumps is their sound emission.

While much of this noise is unavoidable being caused by the expansion of air, the A Series contains built in features to reduce the level of disturbance.

The Perswing P air control system is a metal-free, pneumatically pilot-operated control system which, with only two moving parts, ensures that there is no dead centre, excluding the risk of the pump stalling.

This also results in a 40% reduction in air consumption and a reduction in noise emissions.

Chem Resist has been UK agent for Almatec for almost 20 years.
