Air-driven diaphragm pump for sterile use

A Chemical Process Solutions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 8, 2006

Pump for sterile and aseptic applications meets the requirements of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food industries.

Chemical Process Solutions has introduced the Biocor pump for sterile and aseptic applications within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food industries.

Pumps for these applications have to fulfil much higher requirements than for the normal food processing industry.

The Biocor pumps are built in accordance to the hygienic specifications EHEDG, FDA, Class VI and Atex.

There are only a very few pumps that are acceptable for the pharmaceutical industry, all being rotating pumps (centrifugal and lobe pumps) with electrical drives and mechanical seals or mag drives, which have the disadvantage of crevices and small spaces.

For most applications, Atex is required leading to explosion proof motors and specific covering by stainless steel casings.

Biocor is an air-driven diaphragm pump with advantages for high-end applications.
