CPE wins contract to supply submarine equipment

Corus Process Engineering (CPE) has been awarded a contract from BAE Systems Submarine Solutions to manufacture a range of long lead time equipment for use on the Astute Class submarine Boat 5.

The contract involves the manufacture of watertight doors, including all associated locking/interlocking mechanisms; tunnel door and shielding plug arrangement; tunnel hatch; refuelling plugs; and a variety of other blanking plugs and inserts.

The equipment will be delivered in stages, starting from January 2009 through to February 2010.

This contract follows similar contracts for the supply of equipment to Astute Class submarine, Boat Numbers 1 to 4.
